Solar Panels Made From Human Hair
If you're new to solar power, you may want to look at the Green DIY energy Guide. Click here for more info. .
Milan Karki, a teenager from Nepal has invented a solar panel that uses human hair as the conductor in the workings of the solar panels instead of the usual (and much more expensive) silicon.
He is now trying to see if the production can be made into a commercially viable one. At the moment, the panel produces 9V(18W) of energy and costs around £23 to make.
The pigment in hair called Melanin is light sensitive which is why it will work in a similar way as silicon..
Cheers

p.s. Head lamps would take on a whole new meaning!
